Serves : 6 (1 per person)

  • 6 pieces of barramundi cutlet (each piece 60-70 gm.)
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • 2-3 green chillies slits
  • ¼ tsp sugar
  • salt to taste
  • ½ cup of red onion paste
  • 1 tbsp. garlic paste
  • 4 to 5 tbsp. tomato paste
  • Approx. 2 tsp lime juice or white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp. mustard oil

Process :

  1. Marinate the fish with salt and lime juice, keep aside just for 5 minutes,  keep a plate ready lined with paper towel, then wash the fish pieces and place onto the plate. This process will help to remove the excess fishy smell.
  2. Take a cooking skillet or pan with lid, add onion paste, garlic paste, tomato paste, all ground spices, mustard oil to the pan, mix everything with the help of a ladle or spoon.
  3. Add the fish pieces to the  spice mixture along with green chillies, add about ¼ cup of water, cover with lid.
  4. Set the pan over high heat for about 2 minutes, or until the mixture starts  bubbling up, then reduce the heat to low and continue cooking for 7 to 10 minutes, or until fish cutlets are cooked through.
  5. Remove from heat and serve with cooked Basmati rice.
